More Perfect

.
When I saw you, all my eyes could do was lie
Crippled by corrupted humanity
Their limitations were set by your example
Yet you grew more flawless still

I watched the layers peel
Admittedly fearing what was beneath
You were so perfect
I feared a change would destroy you

Anticipation got the better of me
Impatience revealed the failure of my design
So quickly did blood rush
Almost crippling my steps

I was brought to my knees
Still uncertain if it was your beauty or my blunder
Not that there was time to speculate
My focus sharply returned as you moved

When you spoke it made me speechless
Your scent was inebriating
When reaching out to touch you I went numb
It was a feeling of disbelief.

The Storm (2004)

Violent surges of thunder,
Display the sky’s true wonder,
Also showing power,
Not meant to make us cower,
Calming like a lion’s roar,
Bellows till it has no more,
Not able to be ignored

Lightning in its purest form,
Intertwines within the storm,
I take deep breaths at the sight,
I gaze in wonder not fright,
Each strike never like the last,
Lasting seconds; always fast,
Just as it comes it has passed,

Rain like rushing rivers run,
Refusing to be outdone,
Lighting, thunder all compete,
But rain tells of their defeat,
Nothing calms like gentle drops,
Always flowing; never stops,
Glorious, beautiful drops.

Her Beauty Lies (2008)

Her beauty lies—in more ways than one—just outside her glance
It whispers softly of mediocrity via her ear, straight to her heart
Trying so hard to protect her from the corruption of its curse
Muting what should be so loud to her own eyes

It hides from her

Her full, flowing hair… it’s filled with it
It spreads itself entirely, coating her smooth, flawless skin
It reflects deeply from within her penetrating brown eyes
Only to hint softly along the curves of her delicately colored lips

Boastfully, it explodes from within… where all is safe
She touches hearts without making contact
Spreads smiles like they were contagious
All from beneath her skin, which is no different in beauty form her exterior.
